CANYONS AND COLORS
Activities around Tupiza on foot, horseback or mountain bike

Discovery      3 days Year-round Private Spanish or English speaking

ALONG THE WAY…

Multicolored mountains, the silhouette of the cacti like as many sentinels guarding the entrance of the twisted canyons, the peasants returning home at the slow pace of their mount… the « Red Lands” of Tupiza resemble an immense Western movie backdrop.
We offer you to discover the numerous geologic curiosities of the area the most beautiful and original way possible: a day hike, a day horseback riding and a day mountain biking. This is our vision of a Triathlon!!

PROGRAM

Day 1 : TUPIZA / CERROS MULTICOLORES (trek)

5 to 6-hour walk – Good physical condition required
This beautiful loop takes us through canyons and interesting geological formations of the mountains West of Tupiza: Puerta del Diablo, Valle de los Machos (rock formations resembling phallic symbols), Canyon of the Inca and Petrified forest of Waykho… View over Tupiza, Río Juan de Oro and the site of the “Sillar”…
The effects of the light on the Quebrada de Palala, when we return to Tupiza in the afternoon, will definitely please photographers.
Cold lunch (included). Dinner open. Hotel **..

Day 2 :TUPIZA / HORSEBACK RIDE (1 day)

We take our horses to the South, to the Quebrada de Palmira. We leave La Puerta del Diablo to the right to reach the Quebrada Seca and its colorful cliffs. We follow the canyon until we reach Torojoy. There, the shores of San Juan de Oro offer beautiful galloping ground for our horses all the way to “La Torre”, a monolith 50 meters high. We then return towards Tupiza, via the Entre Ríos, where meet the Ríos Tupiza and San Juan de Oro, and then the famous site of Angosto (about a 6-hour horseback ride).
Cold lunch (included). Dinner open. Hotel **.
Note: The trip and its duration can be adapted to the level of the participants.

Day 3 :TUPIZA / MOUNTAIN BIKE (1 day)

In our 4WD, we head to the site of El Sillar. This vast natural area, also called the Valley of the Moon, with its pinnacles, organs and colored craters is covered with giant cacti. This is where we start our mountain bike descent towards the outskirts of town (close to 1000 meters of elevation loss– 40 km). We find a more lush vegetation near Palala, where ends the track. We now follow the rail-road track along the Río Tupiza to the site of Angosto (but this time we arrive by the other side), Entre Ríos and finally the site of Deseada, where our vehicle awaits us to take us back to Tupiza (4/5 hours of mountain bike ride)
Cold lunch (included). Dinner open. Hotel **.
Note: The trip and its duration can be adapted to the level of the participants.
